Head wind mystery

Is it me or does anyone else have the same issue? I was reflecting on my ride earlier today & no matter which direction I seemed to ride I was riding into a head wind? Now then, having done a complete loop around Telford with the Wrekin on my left, at some point you would think I would experience a tail wind to help me along a bit, but Oh no...why is that?
